The Division was Ubisoft's best-selling and number one game in 2016/2017 and teleports you to NYC in the aftermath of a viral pandemic like the one caused by the Corona virus in late 2019 to 2021. The player is a Special Agent tasked with investigations of the nature of the virus outbreak and will have to rebuild operations outside the death zone. Special Agent will have to scavenge for his own supplies and ammo in order to survive and upgrade the character.

Quarantaine everywhere. Lockdown. Goods are rare. Rioters rob to ensure their own survival. Hospitals are full, bursting at the seams. NYC areas are separated into districts, prohibited access to some of them, e.g. death zones. Inside death zones, hundreds of thousands have died in their houses and in the streets. Tons of infected dead bodies all around. There, corpses and everyone still alive have to be burnt by "the Cleaners" with flamethrowers. So, you will have to be clever and find your way through these death zones where access is strictly prohibited and where everyone has to be burnt.

The source code of The Division has been written in C++ on Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine.
